The Regional Commisiion on Bangsamoro Women, headed by Ms. Jehanne Mutin, sponsored the travel of 7 women from Lanao del Sur to take part in the Inaul Festival Basic Photography Workshop on February 8 in Buluan, Maguindanao. I am lucky to be among the chosen ones to learn from an award-winning travel photographer, Mr. Rhonson Ng of Fujifilm.
We were taught the basics, the abc's. I am not exactly a newbie photographer but I have not been on a workshop. I got my basic knowledge on taking photographs from photojournalist friends Erwin Mascariñas of Interaksyon.com and Ritchel Umel of Inquirer.net. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the workshop very much. Rhonson's works which he showed us are absolutely breath-taking. His portrait of Whang-Od, the last tattooer in Kalinga, is the most beautiful portrait I have seen.
I am grateful for DOT-ARMM for spearheading such an event which is said to be the first of its kind in Buluan. And I am excited for the planned photo exhibit by Meranao women photographers this March in celebration of Women's month.
Here's a slideshow of some photos I took during the workshop. I am experimenting again with video editing.
